The Revere boys soccer team has been a strong force all season long, and that didn’t change on Tuesday as the Patriots battled to a 4-2 victory over Greater Boston League foe Chelsea in the GBL semifinals Tuesday afternoon at Harry Della Russo Stadium. With the win, the Patriots move on to the GBL Final on Wednesday.
Revere (7-1) will take on Lynn English in the GBL Final Wednesday afternoon (3:30) at Harry Della Russo Stadium.
BOYS SOCCER
GBL Semifinal
English 1, Medford 1
The Bulldogs moved on to the Greater Boston League finals Monday after Medford despite a 1-1 tie in regulation after Medford forfeited with seven yellow cards (no team can have five in a game).
Danny Lopez scored the lone English goal on a 30-yard kick assisted by Jose Aleman.
English will travel to Revere Wednesday (3:30) to decide the GBL finals champion.
BASEBALL
Danvers 1, Marblehead 0
The Magicians simply couldn’t get the bats going, as Danvers ace Joe Zamejtis struck out 17.
Danvers scored in the top of the first on a Steve Reardon RBI single, and that turned out to be all the Falcons needed.
Ben Weed (four innings) and Jacob Sherf (three innings) only let up four hits total on the mound for the Magicians.
Marblehead (1-2) is right back at it with another game against Danvers Thursday (4).
Triton 13, Lynnfield 2
Lynnfield (0-2) travels to Rockport Thursday evening (6:30).
BOYS LACROSSE
St. John’s Prep 13, Malden Catholic 0
Tommy Sarni led the scoring attack with two goals and one assist, while Luke Surette, Pat Atkins and Conan Keefe each scored two goals. Micahel Kelly, Tyee Ambrosh, Harlan Graber, Jackson DeSanto and Max Perault each scored one goal, while Charlie Wilmot had two assists. Jimmy Ayers, Lucas Verrier and Zack Raposa each had one assist.
St. John’s Prep (2-0) travels to Xaverian Friday (5:30).
Danvers 8, Swampscott 5
Christian Pierro and Vinny Palmer each had two goals and one assist in the loss, while Jack Russo scored one goal. Goalie Aidan Breault had 17 saves.
Swampscott (1-1) travels to Peabody Thursday (4).
BOYS TRACK
Danvers 116, Saugus 19
The lone winner on the day for the Sachems was Jared DeSousa, who won three different events. DeSousa finished first in the high jump (six feet), the long jump (19-6 1/4) and the 100-meter dash (12.2 seconds).
Saugus (0-1) runs against Masconomet next Wednesday (4).
GIRLS TRACK
Danvers 82, Saugus 44
Saugus had two double-winners in Serena Cacciola and Jessica Bremberg, with Cacciola winning the long jump (16-2 1/4) and the 100 (13.6) and Bremberg winning the triple jump (29-11 1/2) and the 400 (1:06.8). The Sachems also got a win from Madi Femino in the 200 (29.1).
Saugus (0-1) runs against Masconomet next Wednesday (4).
