PEABODY — The St. Mary’s and Bishop Fenwick track teams closed out the “Fall Sports II” season on a solid note over the weekend, competing against their Catholic Central League foes in the annual CCL Invitational Saturday afternoon at Donaldson Stadium. The St. Mary’s boys finished in fifth place (36.5 points) and the St. Mary’s girls finished in seventh place (18 points), while the Fenwick boys finished in third place (52 points) and the Fenwick girls finished in fifth place (21 points). Bishop Feehan won in both the boys (121 points) and girls (128 points) divisions.
The lone St. Mary’s winner on the day came from the boys side, as Anthony D’Itria took first place in the high jump with a height of five feet, 10 inches. Other top performances for the Spartans boys came from John Nowicki in the 55-meter hurdles (second place, personal-record 8.64 seconds) and the 200 (fifth place, personal-record 24.44), Kyle Kwiatek in the one-mile (fourth place, personal-record 4:53.48) and Dylan Moroney in the long jump (sixth place, personal-record 17-7).
For the St. Mary’s girls, Juliana Taborda had a great performance in the 600 after finishing in third place with a time of 1:52.7. Ava Benzan added a third-place finish in the shot put (personal-record 27-10), while Anna Fringuelli finished fifth in both the 1000 (3:56.95) and the high jump (4-6). Kelsey Kwiatek finished seventh in the one-mile (6:12.52).
The Fenwick boys got a win from Ethan Tran in the 200, who finished with a personal-record time of 23.89 seconds. Tran also finished second in the 100 with a personal-record time of 11.82 seconds. Other top performers for the Crusaders were Matthew Gerdenich in the 600 (third place, 1:33.54), Wyatt Burr in the one-mile (third place, 4:44.29), Max Corson in the long jump (third place, personal-record 18-6 1/2) and the 100 (fifth place, 12.06), Tyler DeClerq in the 1000 (fourth place, 2:57.61) and Max Gibbs in the shot put (fifth place, 33-5).
The Fenwick girls got a win from Julia Loescher, who took first place in the shot put with a distance of 32 feet. Also performing well for the Crusaders were Loescher in the 200 (fifth place, personal-record 28.2), Catherine Carter in the 600 (fourth place, 1:53.25) and Samantha Sharp in the 55 hurdles (fourth place, personal-record 10.44).
