To the editor:
Although I don’t live in Lynn, and will not be voting for mayor, I wanted to submit a short letter in support of Jared Nicholson.
Beginning last July, and continuing through much of the current school year, I have been in contact with Jared due to my concerns with the teachers’ needs to be teaching in the school building — considering that Lynn was a hot zone, and that the students were learning remotely.
As a former teacher who taught remotely last spring, I knew that there was nothing to gain by the teachers being in the building. In fact, as one teacher told me, the high school kids she taught never knew whether she was home or in school and never inquired.
I also felt that there was no way that the ventilation had been properly repaired in these buildings.
My first email was to the entire School Committee, and Jared was the lone member to reply. At one point, he took time to speak with me at length.
I found Jared to be an honest, caring person, and was very pleased with his actions. He was definitely willing to help, and that speaks of his character.
