SAUGUS — Those who picked up bread-baking as a hobby during the pandemic may want to tune in to the Saugus Public Library’s upcoming virtual program, “Cook Along with Liz: Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.”
Scheduled for April 8 at 6:30 p.m., the free class will be hosted by popular cooking instructor Liz Barbour and focus on the master recipe from Barbour’s bestselling cookbook, “Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.”
“This no-knead, five-minute artisan bread is truly the easiest bread you will ever bake — even if you have never baked bread before,” a press release from the library said. “Liz Barbour of The Creative Feast has been to the library many times for cooking demonstrations, and we are looking forward to welcoming her back again, virtually.”
A previous demonstration by Barbour at the library in June 2019 explored recipes inspired by some of Barbour’s favorite novels.
The upcoming class is supported in part by a grant from the Saugus Cultural Council, a local chapter of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
“Every year we get an allocation from the state and we support different activities, whether it’s classes like this, performances, or supporting local artists,” said Saugus Cultural Council Chair Michael Sullivan. “This year was tough because people can’t meet in person, so we’ve supported a lot of virtual programs this year.”
An ingredient and equipment list can be found online at https://www.thecreativefeast.com/artisan-bread-recipe.html. Registration is available on the Saugus Public Library website at www.sauguspubliclibrary.org.
After registering, attendees will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
“We’ve had pretty good feedback on our virtual offerings,” Sullivan said. “People can’t meet in person, so this is an alternative. Hopefully next year we’ll be back to sponsoring in-person events and field trips.”
