Even with a shortened season in 2020-2021, several local hockey players — two of whom were teammates — were able to reach the milestone of 100 career points. St. Mary’s senior Samantha Porazinski, St. Mary’s sophomore Jenna Chaplain, Bishop Fenwick senior Gabby Davern and Marblehead senior Will Shull all reached the mark over the course of the year, a testament to their scoring prowess for their respective teams.
Chaplain was the first player to hit 100 career points this season, doing so in a 9-0 St. Mary’s win on Jan. 18. On the other hand, Porazinski nearly ran out of time before reaching the mark — scoring her 100th point in the Spartans’ penultimate game on Feb. 17. Either way, the teammates join a list of St. Mary’s girls hockey scorers that includes all-time leading scorer Abby Gauthier — who finished her career with a seemingly untouchable 358 career points (179 goals, 179 assists). The rest of the Spartans girls hockey list includes Courtney Winters (234 points), Christen Hart (200 points), Alison Butler (199 points), Michelle Golden (185 points), Erin McAndrews (174 points), Sabrina Iannetti (173 points), Courtney White (160 points) and Kaleigh Finigan (142 points). Porazinski finishes her career with 102 points, while Chaplain currently has 132 points with two more seasons to play.
The St. Mary’s boys hockey team has its own stellar list of 100-point scorers, headlined by Charlie Capillo’s program-leading 199 points. Davern also got her milestone out of the way early on in the year, notching her 100th point on Jan. 24th. She joins Lexi McNeil (118 points) as the only two girls players to hit the milestone for Bishop Fenwick.
On the boys side for the Crusaders, John Hanlon is the program’s all-time leading scorer with a stellar 206 points. Cam Martin (110 points), Chris Garofalo (110 points) and Jay Mroz (105 points) also reached the career milestone for Fenwick.
