To the editor:
In my opinion, there has never been a greater time than the present for our political leaders to understand the importance of the art of compromise within their own parties. With the states, they can take stock to decide which businesses can open and what COVID restraints are placed on those businesses.
With compromise, people first need to listen and our political leaders need to start to be proactive, not passive, in their communications during this time. That does not seem to be a stern challenge.
Americans are not asking for more than the key issues of an agreement by both parties to resolve the critical problems affecting millions of American people who need government support during this crisis.
Congress is now looking to the next COVID-19 Stimulus Relief Package and 10 Republican senators have taken the time to understand the importance of compromise to help the most affected Americans in need.
They agreed to expedite the vaccine distribution processes to control this virus from causing more harm with new mutations.
This is when our federal and state governments need to ensure the focus stays on the side of truth, fairness, and clear transparency as we work our way through this COVID battle.
This certainly is not the time for our government leaders to be taking to party lines versus helping millions of Americans in need. Differences by a person or parties, when constructively presented, can create a more substantial unity and benefit to millions of Americans.
There will be differences among people and our political leaders but that is a good thing. When the art of real compromise is decided on for the greater good, it’s a win-win for everyone. Let us hope our government leaders agree.
