The Peabody/Lynnfield girls hockey team celebrated its Senior Night in style Friday evening, notching a 4-1 win over Northeastern Hockey League foe Beverly/Danvers at McVann-O’Keefe Memorial Rink.
Before the game, the Tanners honored their group of five seniors — Jen Flynn, Paige Thibedeau, Reilly Ganter, Elise Staunton and Chloe Shapleigh — for their contributions to the program.
Staunton and Flynn scored one goal each in the win, as did sophomore Jenna DiNapoli and freshman Catie Kampersal. Junior Catherine Sweeney and sophomore Hannah Gromko each had one assist.
Peabody/Lynnfield (6-1-0) will now have a few days off before taking on Masconomet Wednesday night (7:35).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Winthrop 4, Medford 1
After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, the Vikings rallied for four unanswered goals to take home the win.
Mia Norris had two goals and one assist to lead the way, while Mia Martucci and Hannah Parker each scored one goal. Elle English notched three assists, while Julia Holmes and Sami DiMento each had one assist. Goalie Summer Tallent made 11 saves to earn the win in net.
Winthrop (4-1-0) plays on the road at Marblehead Sunday afternoon (2:40).
BOYS HOCKEY
Danvers 5, Swampscott 0
Swampscott (0-5-1) returns to the ice Sunday night (7:30) for a home game against Masconomet.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Salem 39, Marblehead 38
Ethan Doyle paced the Salem offense with 15 points and four rebounds, while Tommy Beauregard added nine points. Guillermo Pimentel led the Witches with nine rebounds and five assists.
Salem (3-1) hosts Winthrop Tuesday evening (6).
Marblehead (2-3) plays on the road at Swampscott Tuesday night (7).
Austin Prep 72, St. Mary’s 60
St. Mary’s (6-4) is right back in action Saturday afternoon (1) on the road at Arlington Catholic.

Saugus (0-4) hosts Peabody Tuesday night (7).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 77, Austin Prep 29
The Spartans remained unbeaten in the CCL with Friday’s win over the Cougars.
St. Mary’s was led by Maiya Bergdorf (15 points), Kellyn Preira (12 points), Van Nguyen (10 points) and Yirsy Queliz (10 points).
St. Mary’s (11-1) is right back on the court Saturday afternoon (4) with a home game against rival Bishop Fenwick.
Lynnfield 38, Ipswich 29
Lynnfield (4-3) will host Hamilton-Wenham Tuesday evening (5:45).
Peabody 31, Swampscott 24
Amber Kiricoples led the Tanners with nine points and 14 rebounds, while Emma Bloom was right behind with eight points. Isabel Bettencourt added seven points in the win, while Abby Bettencourt had five assists and four rebounds from the point guard spot.
Peabody (5-0) will look to remain unbeaten when it hosts Saugus Tuesday night (7).
Swampscott (2-2) travels to Marblehead Tuesday evening (5:30).
Winthrop 46, Gloucester 16
Winthrop (7-1) will host Beverly Monday evening (6).
Beverly 27, Saugus 19
Prior to Friday’s game, the Sachems honored their two seniors — Haley McLaughlin and Cat Schena — for their contributions to the program. Nicole Stuart, who missed her senior season with an injury, was also honored.
“Haley scored three points and Cat Schena brought a lot of energy all night so the seniors played well,” Saugus coach Mark Schruender said. “With two minutes to go we were down by four so it could’ve gone either way. But it was a step in the right direction and a great response after a tough game (Thursday).”
Saugus (0-5) travels to Peabody Tuesday night (7).
