There is no doubt that the ongoing pandemic has made life extra challenging for so many people all across the country, especially those who were already struggling to make ends meet and people who are unemployed or homeless.
But for people who are struggling in all of those categories, being able to help their families have a merry Christmas is practically impossible without assistance from others.
A single mother who is unemployed and living in a homeless shelter with her 3-year-old daughter is hoping Item Santa can help her small family enjoy the holidays this year.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I have not been able to begin employment again and have been struggling to make ends meet, with also being a single mother, as well, as holidays and things are approaching,” she wrote in a letter to Item Santa. “We both sincerely appreciate any and all help you can provide in giving my daughter the Christmas she truly deserves.”
This mother’s story can be heard over and over again, not only within the city of Lynn, but all over America. You can help make a difference with a donation to Item Santa, especially this year when people’s needs are at unprecedented levels.
Now in its 54th year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, PO Box 5, Lynn, MA 01903.
