LYNN — A 61-year-old Lynn man is facing criminal charges after crashing into another car and building in Wyoma Square Wednesday morning.
Police say the man was intoxicated when he rear-ended another vehicle and proceeded to go around the car he hit and crash into a Walgreens in the area of 287 Broadway shortly before 11 a.m.
The driver of the car that caused the crash was not arrested, but was summoned to court on charges of OUI liquor, possession of an open container of alcohol, and leaving the scene of property damage, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
The man, whom police declined to identify, sustained facial injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, Kmiec said.
The other driver was not injured. The city’s Inspectional Services Department responded to make sure the building was structurally sound following the crash, Kmiec said.
