The Swampscott girls soccer team celebrated its Senior Night in a big way Tuesday evening, notching a 5-0 win over Northeastern Conference foe Gloucester at Blocksidge Field.
Junior Sophie DiGrande led the offensive attack with two goals, while senior Allison Tribendis, sophomore Thea Spellios and sophomore Victoria Quagrello each scored one goal. Senior Mackenzie Kearney notched two assists in the win, while sophomores Laine Foutes and Mia Schena each had one assist.
“We played really well out there,” said Swampscott coach Ken Leeder. “The seniors played most of the game and they really brought the energy.”
Prior to the game, the Big Blue honored their group of 10 seniors — Kearney, Allison Tribendis, Maddy Tribendis, Sarah Tribendis, Katherine Strothman, Mariel Fulghum, Anna Nazarenko, Reese Robertson and Aislinn McCarran — for their contributions to the program.
“This senior group has been a great group to coach,” said Leeder. “This was a tough season for everyone, and they brought the energy every day and they helped keep everyone focused. They’ll all be sorely missed.”
Swampscott (2-3-1) travels to Danvers Friday night (6:30).

The Pioneers put together a solid effort Tuesday afternoon, knocking off their Cape Ann League foe.
“We’ve played some decent soccer recently and we’ve won some games, but (Tuesday) was the first time in awhile where we really put together a great performance,” said Lynnfield coach Brent Munroe. “Pentucket is a really solid team, so for us to come out and play a great game against them was good to see.”

Next up for Lynnfield (6-1-1) is a CAL bout against a strong Newburyport team Wednesday afternoon (3:30).
“We’re looking forward to the challenge,” Munroe said about going up against Newburyport. “They’re a great team, so we’ll have to bring our A-game once again in order to pull out the win.”
