Aidan Emmerich is on some kind of hot streak for the St. Mary’s golf team, as the junior star shot a score of 3-under 32 to earn 42 points and help lift the Spartans to a 218-135 win over Catholic Central League foe St. Joseph’s Prep on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at Newton Commonwealth Golf Course.
Emmerich’s 42 points are the most ever scored in one match in program history, with his brother Christian Emmerich — now playing at Division I Holy Cross — holding the previous record of 40 points.
But Emmerich wasn’t the only Spartan to shoot a great score. Luke Smith shot even-par 35 to earn 37 points, while Terence Moynihan shot 1-over 36 to earn 35 points. Peter Pagliuca (30 points), Sean Mathers (29 points), Eric Bridges (23 points) and Andrew Luciano (22 points) also played well for St. Mary’s.
The Spartans (6-9) have one more regular-season match, taking on Archbishop Williams Thursday (2) at Braintree Municipal Golf Course.
