PEABODY — Haillee Lomasney has been an offensive force during her time with the Peabody girls lacrosse team and that drive on the field doesn’t look like it’s coming to an end any time soon.
Lomasney, currently in her senior year, committed to play lacrosse, finding the right fit close to home at UMass Lowell.
“I went there and I loved it,” Lomasney said. “It was really the best choice for me. It’s close to home and I’ve wanted to study in a medical assistant program and UMass Lowell has a great nursing program.”
When it came to lacrosse, there was no doubt what Lomasney could do on the field. She’s scored over 100 goals during her time playing attack for the Tanners
With the spring season being canceled and the loss of her junior season at Peabody recruiting still could have been tough for Lomasney, but thankfully she was still able to hit the field with her club team, Boston Laxachusetts.
“It was really weird at first,” Lomasney said of the recruiting process. “I missed the high school season but my club team was still able to play which was great because I knew I needed to do something. I was able to get some film to send and for teams to look at.”
Lomasney was able to meet the River Hawks’ coaching staff, including a familiar face in head coach Lisa Miller, who gave a great impression of the program.
“(Miller) coached at Beverly my sophomore year so I was a little familiar with her already,” Lomasney said. “I got to meet all three coaches and they’re really nice. I really like their coaching style. I also connected with a few players and the program seemed great.”
Having a positive relationship with her coaches is something Lomasney has benefited from at Peabody. Lomasney has played under Dennis Desroches on both the Tanners girls lacrosse and soccer teams.
“I’ve played under coach Desroches for four years in two different sports,” Lomasney said. “He’s been a great help to me especially in recruiting. He has gotten me connected with some many coaches. A coach he’s so positive to all of us and that really helps. We all have a great connection with him.”
That connection continues on the field with her Tanners teammates, who have spent multiple seasons together as well.
“We’re like best friends on and off the field,” Lomasney said. “Especially Amber Kiricoples (who committed to play lacrosse at Bentley University) with lacrosse. We helped each other with the whole recruiting process and playing together all those years whether it’s soccer or lacrosse we’ve all definitely grown together.”
Lomasney currently has her focus on the soccer field, we’re she and the Tanners are hoping a new season with new guidelines can help them jump start what they hope to be a senior season to remember.
“It’s been good,” Lomasney said. “We had our first game against Salem and we won. It’s been different, I thought it was going to be a little harder, but it’s good. I think we’ll have a good season and we’re really just happy to be able to play our senior year.”
