Although the numbers aren’t as stout as they were back in the middle of the summer, Lynn Woods Running is still going strong as it recently completed its 10th session of the season after transitioning to a virtual race model due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were four races run over the course of the session, ranging in distance from 2.90 miles to 5.62 miles.
The shortest race of the day, a 2.90-mile run around the High School ABCD Course, was won by Boxford’s Michael McKie in a time of 21:34. Lynn’s Eric Bowden finished in second place with a time of 22:08, while Swampscott’s Julie Haynes came in third place with a time of 24:57. Melrose’s Mark Rosenblum (25:28), Lynn’s Tom Fitzgerald (30:47), Ipswich’s Jim Barry (31:57), Lynn’s Christine Scuzzarella (36:16), Lynn’s Robert Connors (40:00) and Lynn’s Dottie Thibodeau (52:03) rounded out the top 10.
McKie also took home first place in the 3.55-mile race, completing the course in a time of 27:02. Rosenblum finished in second place with a time of 31:32, while Swampscott’s Robert Vanlith finished in third place with a time of 32:12. Haynes (32:34), Barry (36:18), Scuzzarella (41:54), Nahant’s John McDonough (45:30), Connors (53:06) and Lynn’s Larry Godbout (55:57) rounded out the top 10.
In the 4.04-mile race, it was Lynn’s Nakri Dao who took the top spot with a time of 28:21. McKie finished in second place (31:13), while Dorchester’s Mathew Lavallee finished in third place (35:39). Haynes (45:35), Barry (50:25), Scuzzarella (55:10), Lynn’s Lan Thach (55:36), Connors (1:00:04), Lynn’s Kimberly Mathews (1:34:54) and Thibodeau (1:36:32) rounded out the top 10.
Dao also finished first in the 5.62-mile race, finishing with a time of 36:37. McKie (40:01), Haynes (51:53), Vanlith (52:40), Barry (57:24), Salem’s Anne Noga (58:52), Lynn’s Kathryn Kench (1:00:51), Scuzzarella (1:06:28), Lynn’s Mike Fitzgerald (1:09:42), Connors (1:14:00) and Thibodeau (1:46:15) rounded out the top 10.
The 11th session of Lynn Woods Running will be held from Sept. 21 to Oct. 4, with four races ranging in distance from 2.80 miles to 4.55 miles.
