LYNN — A 42-year-old man was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital after an industrial accident left him trapped under a forklift on Heaths Court Thursday afternoon.
It’s unclear how the accident happened, but “somehow he got stuck underneath or within a forklift,” which left the man with serious head injuries, according to Lynn Fire Capt. Joseph Zukas.
The man had been working at Bay 9 at 10 Heaths Court, a long commercial building with multiple bays, when the accident occurred, Zukas said.
Lynn Fire and Police were alerted to the incident at about 12:42 p.m. when several 911 calls came in for a man stuck under a forklift, which is owned by Melvin’s Welding, Zukas said.
Crews worked to stabilize the man on scene and “packaged him up” to be transported to the hospital by ambulance, Zukas said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Labor, and city building inspectors responded to the incident. Lynn Police remained on scene to investigate, Zukas said.
