Mildred Tamba works with hospice patients and their families and her compassion earned the Care Dimensions hospice worker statewide recognition.
“I love children and I love helping the elderly,” said Tamba, a Lynn resident since 2016 who previously won industry awards for her compassion for patients and their families.
Tamba is one of six Care Dimensions employees honored at the annual award ceremony recognizing health care workers who provide exceptional service to their patients and families.
“I am incredibly proud that six of our hospice aides have been selected for this award celebrating compassionate care, because they are the true embodiment of those words,” said Patricia Ahern, president and CEO of Care Dimensions. “Every day, while our 165 hospice aides are bathing, dressing and providing personal care to patients, they talk, laugh and listen to precious stories of their patients’ lives, creating such an intimate connection that is the essence of humanity. I’m immensely proud of their dedication and compassion.”
Tamba and fellow hospice aides Dale Lemure of Peabody and Elena Connelly of Salem won the Compassionate Service Award presented by the Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation Service of Massachusetts.
Tamba has worked at Care Dimensions for nearly five years and in hospice for 18 years.
“I love taking care of my elderly patients and children and their families. At the end of the day when I leave smiles on the faces of my patients, I am happy and content. My patients give me strength and courage,” she said.
Tamba said patience is the chief skill required to do her job and she said her clients always make her feel better.
“At the end of the day I feel good that I made a difference in someone’s life,” Tamba said.
