Two nights in a row now, the Peabody Champions have had their night ended with a tough defeat.
Following a tough, late-inning loss in Game 2 Sunday night, the No. 8 Champions fell to the No. 2 Rowley Nor’Easters by a score of 4-3 in Game 3 of the North Shore Baseball League semifinals Monday night at Eiras Park in Rowley. The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning before Rowley took home the win on a walk-off hit from Logan Burrill. Rowley now leads the best-of-five series 2-1.
Derek Lyons (2-for-3, RBI) and Mark Shorey (2-for-4, RBI) both had multi-hit games for Peabody in the loss, while Jon Cahill (1-for-4), Andrew O’Neill (1-for-3), Dave Ruggerio (1-for-4) and Chad Martin (1-for-3) also had hits in the loss.
Greg Ladd took the loss on the mound in relief. Mike Muscarella got the start and pitched three innings, allowing three runs on five hits with one strikeouts. Sean Letarte pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, while Scott Weismann pitched 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
For Rowley, Logan Burrill (1-for-2, RBI), Nicholas Lam (1-for-2, RBI) and Jacob Deziel (1-for-3, RBI) paced the offensive attack. Levi Burrill earned the win on the mound, tossing all seven innings and allowing three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Peabody and Rowley will have Tuesday off before getting back in action Wednesday (7:45) at a location to be determined.
