I have been a Peabody resident for the last 16 years. I am currently a volunteer with Angus McQuilken’s campaign for congress and that is why I am writing this letter to the editor today. Angus is a Democrat running in the Sixth Congressional District for the House of Representatives.
Unlike his opponent, Seth Moulton, Angus is the only progressive Democrat running in this race. During these turbulent times, a progressive like Angus is what we need in office to promote real change in our district, the state and the country as a whole. Angus has worked for and founded many coalitions that have promoted real change in the state of Massachusetts.
He co-founded the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. This coalition, along with his many others, was one of the key aspects of Angus that swayed my vote away from Seth Moulton and towards Angus. Through the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, Angus strived high and got a ban on the assault rifle in the state of Massachusetts; the only state to do so. With the resolution that Angus has, in office I know that he will continue to fight for and achieve progressive legislation in a time where the system today needs to be changed.
Beyond a doubt, Angus is the most qualified person to run for congress in years. As a leader, strategist and advocate Angus has a long list of celebrated accomplishments. In all he does, Angus exemplifies honesty, fairness, and thoughtfulness. Angus will use those qualities to create meaningful and lasting change. We need Angus. Angus needs you. Vote for him on Sept. 1.
