Complaints
A caller reported about 25 people were watching baseball without wearing masks at 7:42 p.m. Monday on West Shore Drive.
A report of suspicious activity at 12 a.m. Tuesday on School Street. A caller reported a woman who was walking on School Street with a young child appeared to be drunk as she was weaving all over the place. Police could not find the woman and child.
Theft
A report of a larceny/forgery/fraud at 7:47 p.m. Monday on Essex Street. A caller reported a Craigslist scam over a rental property. She said she entered all of her personal information while looking for a rental property and later found out it was a scam. She notified the owner of the property, who knew nothing about it.
NAHANT
Accidents
A caller at 6:15 p.m. Monday reported a vehicle driving erratically in the vicinity of Sunset Rd. A responding officer later located the vehicle unoccupied.
A motor vehicle crash with injuries was reported near the Nahant Rotary at 7:25 p.m. Sunday. One party was transported via ambulance to Salem Hospital.
Complaints
Police received a call at 11:35 a.m. Monday from a resident who stated someone attempted to scam her over the phone using the “grandson in jail scam.” The caller reported it happened sometime last week but that she wanted officers to know. She said the scammers asked her to send $15,000 to bail her grandson out of jail, but she realized she was being scammed and hung up the phone.
A caller at 7:01 a.m. Monday stated a truck belonging to his neighbor may have damaged his property. A dispatched officer reported there was no property damage and determined there was an ongoing neighbor dispute over property lines. Civil in nature.
Fire
A fire on Lafayette Terrace. was reported at 12:55 p.m. Monday. Patrol units reported the fire was on the exterior of a house. The Nahant Fire Department was notified and it was later determined the fire started with paint under the home’s porch.
PEABODY
Accidents
A report of a motor vehicle crash at 1:39 p.m. Monday at 79 Russell St. and 2 Stone Drive. Mark Andrew Howland, 29, of 69 S W. Apt. 980, Orem, Utah, was summoned for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
A motor vehicle crash was reported at 1:42 p.m. Monday at 415 Lowell St. and 30 Baldwin St.; at 3:25 p.m. Monday on Route 128 South prior to Exit 44.
A report of a motor vehicle hit and run crash at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday at 49 Central St.

A report of suspicious activity at 2:23 p.m. Monday at Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost at 20 Howley St. A caller reported a person was urinating in the parking lot. Police reported the person had left before their arrival.

Arrest
Alberto Ortiz-Castanada, 29, of Norton, was arrested Monday on charges of attempting to commit crime larceny under $1200.
Accidents
Police received a 911 call reporting a two-car accident on Broadway. All parties refused medical care and both vehicles were towed. Minor landscaping damage was noted in front of U-Haul Co.
Police received a 911 call at 12:13 a.m. Monday from a male party who reported a white nissan had backed into his motorcycle on Fairchild Ave. and drove away. A report was taken.
Animal Welfare
A 911 caller reported two dogs who seemed distressed in a Nissan SUV in the Walmart garage on Broadway. A dispatched officer reported the animals did not appear to be in distress.
A resident called the station at 2:44 p.m. Monday to report his neighbor’s dog had been outside for 10 minutes and seemed to be in distress. An officer was dispatched to Newhall St. and reported that the dog was in good health and in the house prior to arrival. The officer noted an ongoing neighbor dispute between the owner and the caller.
Complaints
Police received a 911 call at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday from a party who reported loud music coming from a residence on Glen Park Ave. An officer was dispatched and found a gathering of four to five people who agreed to turn down the music for the night.
Theft
Police received a call at 5:55 Monday from a man who reported his $2000 bicycle was stolen from his back porch. No suspect information. A report was taken.
