PEABODY — After an investigation of several months, two Peabody residents were arrested Thursday and charged with multiple drug offenses.
Leonel Gonzalez, 27, and Jennifer R. Kyminas, 30, both living at 20 North Central Street Apt. 2, were each charged with trafficking in a Class A controlled substance fentanyl over 12 Grams and possession with intent to distribute a Class B Substance (Adderall). Kyminis was also charged with intimidation of a witness.
The suspects will be arraigned in Peabody District Court Friday, July 3 at 9 a.m.
The arrests were made following execution of a search warrant early Thursday morning. The following items were seized: 1,400 oxycodone pills containing fentanyl and a quantity of Adderall pills with an approximate street value of $35,000; approximately $3,000 in cash, and packaging materials consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
The investigation was initiated in response to numerous complaints received from area residents. Throughout the investigation, drug purchases were made and based on those purchases and related investigative work, a search warrant was applied for and granted by Peabody District Court. Prior to execution of the search warrant, the apartment was swept and secured by the NEMLEC Swat Unit.
Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin said the Peabody is a very safe community, but unfortunately there are those who seek to profit from people who are battling addiction. He said the police will continue to work diligently with all state and local law enforcement and social service agencies in a continued effort to fight the opiate epidemic.
