MARBLEHEAD — Voters go to the polls today to decide contested Board of Selectmen and School Committee races, with the town clerk posting notice that some polling place locations have been changed.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
With five board seats in contention, incumbents Jackie Belf-Becker, Moses Grader, Judith R. Jacobi and James E. Nye are all seeking reelection, with David Glen Depew and James R. Zisson on the ballot as well.
There are four candidates for two school committee
seats: current members Sarah Jane Gold and Jennifer A. Schaeffner, as well as Pond Street resident Emily L. Barron and West Shore Drive resident Catherine R. Martin.
In a post on the town website, the clerk’s office stated that polling locations have changed to provide more space to allow safe distancing for voters.
For voters who live in Precincts 1 and 2, the polling place is the Village School Gymnasium, 93 Village St. Voters must enter through the main entrance of the school on Village Street and follow the signs to the gym.
For voters who live in Precincts 3, 4, and 5, the polling place is the High School fieldhouse, 2 Humphrey St.
To vote, enter the field house door and follow directional signs posted.
The Precinct 6 polling location has not changed. Precinct 6 voters will cast their ballots at the Marblehead Community Center, 10 Humphrey St.
Voters are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering or mask when inside a polling location. Election workers will also be wearing face coverings and gloves.
All surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized after each person has finished voting.
Signs and floor markings will be installed encouraging face coverings, directing traffic flow inside the building and also reminding voters to social distance.
Hand sanitizer will be available for voters to use.
Pens will be provided to all voters when they are issued ballots, and voters are asked to take the pens with them as they leave the polling location.
All early ballots must be returned to the town clerk’s office at Abbot Hall by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Ballots can be deposited in the red mailbox outside Abbot Hall.
Eurim Chun is running for a two-year unexpired Abbot Library trustee term. Trustees Gary J. Amberik Jr. and Ann M. McGreevy are seeking reelection to three-year terms.
Municipal Light Commissioner Michael A. Tumulty and Pitman Road resident Lisa Wolf are contending for a commission seat.
Uncontested candidates on the ballot include Town Moderator Gary Spiess; Assessor John P. Kelley; Board of Health member Todd Belf-Becker; Housing Authority board member Joan D. Cutler.
Rossana Ferrante and Robert J. Schaeffner are running for reelection to the planning board. Recreation and Park Commissioners Linda A. Rice Collins, Matthew C. Martin, Derek Y. Norcross, Charles Edward Osborne Jr. and Gerald P. Tucker Jr. are seeking reelection.
Thomas P. Carroll is seeking reelection to the water and sewer commission, and write-in votes could fill a second commission seat as well as a vacant cemetery commission seat.
