LYNN — Two missing female hikers and a dog were found safe after firefighters and police searched Lynn Woods for nearly two hours on Wednesday night, according to Lynn Fire Chief Stephen Archer.
The search was prompted after the two hikers reported being lost in Lynn Woods at approximately 8:15 p.m., Archer said.
Crews from the Lynn Fire Department, along with Lynn and State Police searched the vicinity of Overlook Trail off of Great Woods Road until contact was made with the two young women shortly before 10 p.m., Archer said.
The Lynn Fire Department’s ATV team was able to bring the two women and their dog out of the woods with lighting assistance from a State Police Air Wing, which had responded to assist with the search, Archer said.
Neither woman was injured, but both were “a little scared and shaken up by the ordeal,” Archer said.
“They were extremely deep into those woods, with a cell phone that was quickly losing power,” Archer said. “(It was a) great job by Engine 10’s ATV crew of locating and extricating the two women and their dog.”
