Andrew Turcotte of Swampscott was one of 28 high school students to receive Teamsters Local 25 college scholarships worth $56,000 during its May virtual membership meeting, which included a video presentation honoring the college-bound seniors. A recent graduate of Swampscott High School, Turcotte will attend Northeastern University this fall. He is the son of Aurora Turcotte, a Teamsters Local 25 member who works for Air Canada.
Jay Patel of Lynn graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Penn., with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree and a minor in Chemistry and Neuroscience. He graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Cassandra Dykes of Salem was awarded Becker College’s Equality Award at a virtual Academic Awards ceremony. Dykes graduated from the Worcester/Leicester college in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Science, Pre-Veterinary concentration. The Equality Award is given to a student who has increased awareness of issues of equality, diversity, and/or social justice in the Becker College community.
Plymouth State University in New Hampshire has released its Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester. To be named to the list, a student must achieve a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.69 during the spring semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester.

Jessica Malatzky of Swampscott graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in RRT Respiratory Care from Boise State University in Indiana on May 9. Malatzky was among nearly 2,800 students eligible for degrees. Boise State celebrated their achievements with the university’s first-ever virtual commencement ceremony.
Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., recognized 283 students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2020 spring semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., held its annual Class & Charter Day May 11. Established in 1950, the event combines the traditional Class Day celebrating the end of classes with a commemoration of the granting of College’s charter on May 26, 1812.

Alexa Goldstein of Lynnfield received The Sadler-Skinner Prize for Excellence in Chinese Language and Literature. Goldstein, a first-year student, is a graduate of Pingree School. The Sadler-Skinner Prizes for Excellence in Chinese Language and Literature are awarded at the introductory and advanced levels for excellence in Chinese language and literature studies. Goldstein was awarded the introductory level prize.
Lydia McGinn of Peabody received The H. Samuel Slater Prize in Romance Languages. McGinn, a sophomore majoring in art history and French and francophone studies, is a graduate of Pingree School. The H. Samuel Slater Prize in Romance Languages is awarded to a student who, at the end of the sophomore year, has excelled in the study of a romance language.
The following Northeastern University students were recently named to the university’s Dean’s List for the Spring semester: Saugus resident Madison Belyea, who is majoring in bioengineering. In addition to making the Dean’s List, she is a member of the University Honors Program; Saugus resident Hannah Khafif, who is majoring in computer engineering. In addition to making the Dean’s List, she is a member of the University Honors Program; Saugus resident Omar Tuffaha, who is majoring in computer engineering/computer science. In addition to making the Dean’s List, he is a member of the University Honors Program.
Kenneth Sarni of Lynnfield was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2020 semester at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. He is a sophomore majoring in business studies, Dean’s List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.
Clarkson University students named Presidential Scholars for the spring 2020 semester included Jack Garrett of Marblehead, a junior majoring in electrical engineering, and Janine Goggin of Peabody, a sophomore majoring in biology/psychology.
