More than 700 students received bachelor of arts degrees from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester during a virtual celebration of the Class of 2020 on May 22. The live video program, during which graduates received electronic diplomas, featured a special message from director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Holy Cross alumnus Dr. Anthony Fauci ‘62. An in-person commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 will be held in spring 2021.

Maura Honan of Marblehead named to the Saint Mary’s College Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester. To earn this academic honor at Saint Mary’s, in Notre Dame, Ind., a student must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale.
Sara Hayward of Peabody graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater degree from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, May 9.
Malden Catholic High School will hold its annual Senior Christian Service Prayer Service virtually on June 15, at 4 p.m. The Senior Awards Ceremony will be held virtually on June 17, at 6 p.m, and the back parking area will be transformed into a celebration site for the first-ever Senior Rolling Rally on June 20, 2-4 p.m. Seniors and family, traveling in one car, will follow a parade route around the school, making way to a stage where seniors will exit the vehicle for a photo opportunity with administrators and receive their MC Senior Graduation Package with awards, certificates, honor cords, flowers for their moms and other memorabilia. The event will be live-streamed for those gathered, as well as for other family members and individuals from the community to follow along and enjoy. A live commencement/conferral of diplomas is tentatively planned for Aug. 1, 4 p.m., in Brother Gilbert Stadium, as permitted by state and local health organizations and government officials. All social distancing guidelines will be followed. Class of 2020 valedictorian is Michael Sekenski; salutatorian is Ciro Carbone.
Hannah Bates of Lynn, and Julia Azzaro of Saugus, both Biology majors and members of the Class of 2023, were accepted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a national scholastic honor society, at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.
Nearly 2,400 graduate and undergraduate students at Bridgewater State University completed their academic programs for the 2019-2020 academic year and are being recognized for their accomplishments by the university until they are able to attend their own commencement.
The Commencement Convocation for undergraduates and Graduate Commencement Convocation, scheduled for May 16 and May 14 respectively, were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An announcement to all graduates regarding the rescheduled commencement ceremonies is expected next month.
