My friend who is permanently in a wheelchair and who has a very fragile immune system is unable to go outside at this time. She has been advised that there is not a safe way for her to be in public spaces.
Many people are avoiding this risk by buying groceries online and having them delivered. This practice is safest for everyone. If we are all being asked to stay at home, and people with disabilities are extra vulnerable, it seems cruel as well as contradictory not to allow the use of food stamps to pay for groceries electronically.
Please see to it that this contradiction is resolved as quickly as possible for all of our sakes’.
During this pandemic, it is urgent to ensure people with disabilities are not forced to choose between hunger and COVID-19. Please urgently push the USDA so SNAP (Food Stamps) recipients can use online purchasing and food delivery today. You can save lives at no extra cost.
