LYNN — A report of shots fired on Astor Street early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Lynn man, police said.
Bophann Pech, of 14 Oak St., was arrested and charged with trespassing, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammo without a firearm identification card and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, Lynn Police responded to a shots fired call in the area of 50 Astor St. and allegedly saw Pech leaving the area, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
The man, later identified as Pech, matched a description of the suspect who had fired a handgun in the area, and attempted to run away from the responding officers, Kmiec said.
Police were able to catch up to him a short time later and took him into custody. Officers found a .40 caliber handgun that had been discarded in an area near where Pech had fled, Kmiec said.
It’s not clear if others were involved in the shooting or how many shots were fired. No victims have come forward, Kmiec said.
“Nobody was hit that we know of and there was no reported damage,” said Kmiec. “He’s the only person that we have.”
The incident is under investigation.
