Friends of My Brother’s Table,
We hope this letter finds you and your family well during these uncertain times. You are an important part of our community, and we send you our best wishes for your health and safety.
We wish the same for the guests of My Brother’s Table. However, the truth is that many people are suffering. Between illness, the closure of many social service agencies, and unemployment, our community has been hit hard, and our most vulnerable are hit the hardest.
At the Table, we have seen our onsite meals grow from 300 a day to 500 a day. Our offsite meals, meals we provide to local organizations like the Recuperative Care Center, the New Lynn Coalition, Children’s Friend and Family Services, and the New American Center, have grown exponentially as well.
We are the last line of defense for people who are the most vulnerable; and we take that responsibility seriously. We remain open every day, as we always have. We’re feeding everyone who needs our help, just doing it in a very different manner, maintaining social distance and providing all food and drink to-go.
We know that it has been difficult for some of you to continue to volunteer at the Table and we know you want to remain connected. That’s why we are excited to announce our new social media campaign #FromYourTableToOurs on Facebook @MBTLYNN and Twitter @MyBrothersTable starting on April 22.
First and foremost, we need your financial help! We’re serving more meals, in an expensive to-go format, with fewer donated foods; so we ask you to please visit www.mybrotherstable.org or text HELPMBT to 44321 and donate generously.
We are so grateful for your support. Together, we can provide meals for people who are hungry and grow our ties to our community, even as we remain physically separated from one another.
Warm regards,
The Committee for #FromYourTableToOurs
