At around 12:09 a.m. Thursday morning (March 26) I received a call from one of my employees at the Lynnway Mart.
My employee informed me that there was a robbery in progress at one of the jewelry stores inside of the mall. I immediately contacted the Lynn Police Department to make sure they were aware of the on-going robbery.
After informing LPD, I rushed down to the Lynnway Mart. While making my way down Hanson Street to enter the parking lot, I was able to witness an incredible show of force and collaboration between LPD and the Massachusetts State Police. The State Police were also assisted by three canine units, two LPD sergeants and the State Police sergeant supervised their respective teams admirably and effectively.
Their leadership ultimately led to an arrest of the suspect. After the arrest, they were led to believe the suspect may have had an accomplice and the respective law enforcement agencies searched the entire three-acre site to ensure there was no other suspect.
I would like to personally thank the men and women from LPD and the State Police for the great job they did. While we are facing a tremendous amount of uncertainty during these challenging times, it is reassuring to know that our city is protected 24/7 by our police force.
