MARBLEHEAD — An employee of Tedesco Country Club has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The announcement was made Sunday by club president David Campbell in an email to members.
Campbell said the employee had been working with others inside the clubhouse last week, and had also possibly made contact with certain employees from the grounds crew. As a result, the Tedesco Board of Directors made the decision to ban access to the clubhouse for anyone outside of an emergency situation. It has also asked all the club’s employees to stay off club property and self-quarantine for the next 14 days.
Some exceptions may be made, Campbell said, especially with outside grounds staff, if testing becomes more readily available and proof of a negative test result can be made.
In the meantime, he said, it is expected that the club’s planned opening of the greens on the club-side nine holes will be delayed by two weeks — or until mid-April. The winter course will remain open, and those golfers who use it are asked not to touch the pins, stay at least six feet away from their playing partners, and other types of common-sense behavior.
