Mistakes haunt Fenwick girls hockey in tournament loss to Winchester

PEABODY -- The No. 11 Bishop Fenwick girls hockey team simply made too many mistakes Tuesday evening, and those mistakes took their toll in a 5-2 upset loss to No. 22 Winchester in the opening round of the Division 2 state tournament at McVann-O'Keefe Memorial Rink.

"We knew coming in that Winchester was a good team and that this would be a tough matchup," said Fenwick coach John Kasle. "When you go up against a good team and you make mistakes, those mistakes can get magnified. That's what happened to us, everytime we made a mistake Winchester was able to score."

Both Fenwick goals were scored by freshman forward Abbey Millman, while junior defenseman Allison Countie and junior forward Gabby Davern each had one assist.
