English moves on in Div. 1 North with first-round win over rival Classical

LYNN -- Despite some ups and downs throughout the game, the English boys basketball team made enough plays down the stretch to pull away from cross-town rival Classical in an 81-73 win in the opening round of the Division 1 North tournament at Paul Cavanagh Field House. The Bulldogs came out strong in the early parts of the first and third quarters, but faded down the stretch of each half to allow Classical to remain in the game.

Mukeba Jean-Baptiste had a big game for English, notching a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jack Rodriguez and Jarnel Guzman each scored 16 points, while Ademide Badmus had 14 points and five rebounds. …
