The Daily Item on Jan. 25 published an article on the front page about serving school children breakfast called Breakfast after the Bell. I think it is a great idea but I was dismayed to see the photo showing the boy’s breakfast almost all packaged in single-use plastic.
There is a high cost of single-use plastic on both the environment and the rapidly-rising cost for recycling. To serve thousands of meals a day across the Commonwealth packaged in yet more plastic is shortsighted.
