The St. Mary’s boys basketball team snapped a 2-game skid with Monday’s 66-33 win over Portland (ME) at Portland Exhibition Center.
Joey Abate-Walsh scored a game-high 20 points in doing the heavy lifting for the Spartans offense. Josh Perez and Lee Pacheco each poured in 14 points. Pacheco also hauled in 12 rebounds.
“It was nice to get back on the winning track,” Spartans coach Dave Brown said. “Our kids are getting back healthy from the flu which is great.”
St. Mary’s (10-2) has a tough non-league game ahead on Wednesday (7), when it hosts TechBoston.
“They’re ranked No. 3 in the state so that’ll be a nice test for us,” Brown said. “It’s going to be a tough match-up for us. Their guards will try to turn us over. Hopefully we can match their intensity and take care of the basketball.”
