The Classical boys basketball team came away with another Northeastern Conference win Tuesday night, taking down Winthrop 69-48 at home.
Jeff Barbosa led the Rams with 21 points in the win, while Ray Nunez added 11 rebounds.
Classical (7-3) goes on the road for another NEC battle against Peabody Friday night (7).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Gloucester 52, Peabody 45
Joangel Lugo had a solid game in the loss for Peabody, notching 11 points, three steals and three assists. Steve Bua scored eight points and added six rebounds.
The Tanners (4-4) are back in action Friday night (7) when they host Classical.
Chelsea 74, Tech 48
Carlos Mateo and Mekhi Cronin each had a double-double for Tech, with Mateo notching 20 points, 10 rebounds and two steals and Cronin putting up 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tigers (2-6) travel to Shawsheen Friday night (5:30).
Salem 76, Saugus 45
The Witches were paced by Bobby Jellison’s 25 points and six assists, while Tommy Beauregard added 15 points and six rebounds in the win.
Salem (5-4) travels to Danvers Friday night (7).
KIPP 73, PMA 15
Winfred Sanchez scored 23 points to lead the way for the Panthers, while Algha Barry notched 13 points.
KIPP (6-2) takes on Revere Monday (7).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Tech 43, PMA 30
Alondra Sanchez scored 18 points to lead the way for Tech. Iranis Julio scored 13 points in the win.
Tech (4-6) host Notre Dame Academy Friday (5:30).
Saugus 48, Salem 15
The Sachems had two players scored their first career varsity baskets in the win, with Cat Schena and Kyra Jones both reaching the milestone. Haley McLaughlin scored nine points for Saugus in the win.
Saugus (7-2) hosts Gloucester Friday night (7).
Fenwick 57, Arlington Catholic 35
Fenwick came out on top of the Catholic Central League battle at home Tuesday behind a pair of double-double performances.
Annie Murphy led the way for the Crusaders with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Liz Gonzalez nearly ended up with a triple-double after putting up a line of 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Veronica Tache added 13 points and four steals in the win.
Fenwick (6-3) is right back in action Wednesday night with a road game against Arlington Catholic for the second half of a home-and-home series.
Winthrop 42, Classical 26
Jean Gupton-Morrison scored nine points in the loss for the Rams.
Classical (4-5) hosts Peabody Friday night (7).
Peabody 52, Gloucester 19
Taylor Bettencourt led the way for Peabody with 14 points, while Emma Bloom was close behind with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Isabel Bettencourt added nine points, Amber Kiricoples put up eight points and 14 rebounds and Aja Alimonti had six points and eight rebounds.
The Tanners (2-6) travel to Classical Friday night (7).

Marblehead 92, English 73
The lone first-place finisher for the Bulldogs was Hannah Trahant, who took first place in diving. Mary Lawlor placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:06.82) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:13.81), while Catherine Zuffante finished third in both the 100 backstroke (1:14.85) and the 100 butterfly (1:15.16). Cole Story finished third in the 50 freestyle (27.13).
English swims against cross-town rival Classical Tuesday (6:30).
BOYS TRACK
St. John’s Prep 78, Catholic Memorial 17
The Eagles had one double-winner in Harry Portorreal, who took first in both the 55 hurdles (8.39) and the long jump (20-9). Other winners for St. John’s Prep were Max Gaffney in the high jump (5-10), Mike Fionda in the shot put (44-7 1/2), Geddes Donlon in the 600 (1:30.11), Matt Quinn in the 1000 (2:43.41), Connor Hughes in the one-mile (4:38.71) and Jack Stein in the two-mile (11:12.85). The team of Donlon, Griffin Tache, Greg Pykett and Pat Hosman took first place in the 4×400 relay.
The Prep (5-0) will capture the Catholic Conference championship with a win against Brockton Tuesday (4)
