The Marblehead boys hockey team grabbed its fifth win over the last six games with a 4-2 Northeastern Conference victory over Gloucester Saturday at Salem State’s Rockett Arena.
Goals from Carter Laramie and Eli Feingold in the first period gave the Magicians a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Gloucester fired back with Jack Constanzo’s unassisted goal early in the second period. Cam Razin put Marblehead up 3-1 heading into the third period.
Harry Marshall closed the gap to 3-2 but Zach Piersol put the finishing touches on the 4-2 win. Feingold, Charlie Titus, Connor Jalbert and Colin Hart recorded one assist each. Shots favored Marblehead, 31-25.
The Magicians (8-1-1) travel to Winthrop Wednesday (6:10).
BOYS HOCKEY
Brookline 3, Swampscott 2
Conor Donovan scored both Swampscott goals. Tyler Seller, Drew Olivieri and Ronan Locke had one assist apiece.
Goalie Ian Roddie was strong in net with 32 saves.
Swampscott (6-4) visits Saugus Wednesday (7:30).
Winthrop 4, Fenwick 2
Both Fenwick goals, one each from Diego Alvarez-Segee and Tom Estella, were scored in the first period.
Fenwick (4-4-1) visits Notre Dame (CT) Saturday (7:15).
Winthrop (5-3-2) hosts Marblehead Wednesday (6:10).
GIRLS HOCKEY
St. Mary’s 5, St. Joseph Prep 0
Lily Pregent and Jenna Chaplain each scored two goals. Samantha Porazinski scored one goal. Goalie Angelina Catino earned her first career shutout with 10 saves.
“It was nice to see Lily score her first varsity goal and for Angelina to have a solid game in net,” coach Frank Pagliuca said. “We will take the two points and move on. We have a tough test on Wednesday with Westford Academy at home.”
Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Fenwick 2, Matignon 1
Gabby Davern and Abbey Millman netted a goal each in Saturday’s win. Millman, Davern, Grace Morey and Emma Perry each dished an assist.
Marblehead 2, Fenwick 0
Madison Twombley scored both goals and goalie Lily Francoeur made 30 saves Sunday.
Marblehead (3-5-2) hosts Beverly/Danvers Sunday (10:30).
Fenwick (7-2-2) travels to Beverly/Danvers Wednesday (4).
Winthrop 2, Wakefield 2
Emma Holmes scored both Winthrop goals in a non-league game at Larsen Rink. Abby Holmes, Elle English and Mia Martucci each dished one assist.
Vikings netminder Summer Tallent made 26 saves.
“It was a good game,” coach Anthony Martucci said. “I thought Wakefield played hard and was well-coached. We had our chances and didn’t bury enough of them. It was a battle and I felt at times we didn’t bring enough intensity to win the game. We need to get more offense from our other lines. Right now we only have one line going offensively.”
Winthrop travels to Medford/Malden Wednesday (4).

Ademide Badmus scored 15 points and Jack Rodriguez added 12.
English (8-2) travels to Marblehead Thursday (7).
Fenwick 43, Peabody 32
Alex Gonzalez led the Crusaders with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Fenwick (6-2) is at Arlington Catholic Tuesday (6:30).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 61, St. Peter-Marian 40
The Spartans won their 11th straight as they defeated the previously unbeaten Guardians at Emmanuel College in Boston.
Olivia Matela led the St. Marys with 18 points. Maiya Bergdorf added 13 and Gabby Torres contributed with 11.
The Spartans (11-1) are at Austin Prep Monday (6:30).
Bp. Feehan 49 , Fenwick 47
Despite the loss, Annie Murphy had a stellar game with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Veronica Tache’ (13 points, three steals), Liz Gonzalez (six points, six steals) and Bella Romero (eight points, nine rebounds) also played well.
Fenwick (5-3) hopes to snap a 2-game skid Tuesday (6:30) when the Crusaders host Arlington Catholic.
SWIMMING
Matignon 89, St. Mary’s 69
Highlights for the Spartans included Thiago Pereira in the 50 freestyle (27.31) and the 100 freestyle (1:04.44); and the 200 freestyle relay team of Gabi Marchese, Ally Boucher, Emma Whiteknact and Thiago Pereira (2:04.19).
New swimmers Victor Nascimento, Thomas Weber, Travis Smith and Alexa Cruz swam the 200 free relay for the first time and had a great finish.
The Spartans host Williams next Saturday (2).
WRESTLING
Marblehead/Swampscott went 2-1 at the Lynnfield/North Reading super quad meet. The Black and Blue defeated Lynnfield/North Reading, 54-24, and Essex Tech, 60-15. The defeat came to Melrose, 47-36.
Marblehead/Swampscott wrestlers who fared well on the day were Connor O’Brien (3-0, remains undefeated this season), Jorge’ Maldonado (3-0), John Cohen (3-0), Michael Hopkins (3-0), Nick Sirota (3-0), Erik Bazarov (2-1), Cole Patrick (2-1), Scott Marlin (first varsity win) and Brendan Rowe (2-1).
The Black and Blue (11-3) head to Danvers Wednesday (6:30).
