The Marblehead boys hockey team skated to a 9-2 win over Lynn Tuesday at Salem State’s Rockett Arena. Shots on goal favored Marblehead, 35-15.
Matt Patrie and Luke Rao scored a goal each for the Jets, with both assists from Matt Devin.
Carter Laramie’s hat trick powered Marblehead’s attack. Laramie netted one goal in each period.
Zach Piersol scored two goals. Eli Feingold, Chris Locke, Hayden Leveroni and Connor Sheridan each scored one goal.
Marblehead (7-1-1) hosts Gloucester Saturday afternoon (1) at Rockett Arena.
The Jets (0-8) travel to Somerville Saturday (5).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Winthrop 3, Longmeadow 3
The Vikings (4-2-1) snapped a 2-game losing streak. They trailed 2-0 midway through the second period before scoring three of the next four goals.
Antea Schlichting (first varsity goal), Julia Holmes and Emma Holmes each netted one goal. Netminder Summer Tallent made 45 saves.
“Summer stood on her head,” coach Butch Martucci said. “She made a ton of unreal saves. She kept us in it.”
The Vikings host Wakefield Saturday (1:30).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Swampscott 54, Danvers 52 (OT)
Justin Ratner netted the game-winner in overtime and finished with eight points. Cam O’Brien propelled Swampscott with 16 points and six steals. Oscar Hale (11 points, seven rebounds) and Liam Hamilton (eight points, seven rebounds) also played well.
Swampscott (3-4) hopes to get back to .500 with a win at Saugus Friday (7).
English defeats Winthrop
The Bulldogs featured five scorers in double-figures: Jarnel Guzman, Joaquin Crespo, Aaron Vizcaino, Mason Jean-Baptiste and Lou Rivera.
English (8-1) hosts Danvers Friday (7) .
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marblehead 33, Peabody 27
Marblehead remains undefeated at 8-0, while the Tanners drop to 1-5.
Emily Clough’s double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds) led the Magicians. Leila Walton (eight points, three rebounds) and Maddy Lowy (six points) also played well.
Amber Kiricoples led Tanners with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Emma Bloom played solid defense.
“We’re playing a little better,” Peabody Stan McKeen said. “It’s just a lack of offense.”
The Tanners hope to bounce back Thursday (6) when they visit Fenway at Emmanuel College.
Marblehead hosts Classical Friday (7).
Tech 59, Fellowship 9
Alondra Sanchez led the Tigers with 12 points. Adrianna Torres (nine) and Iranis Julio (eight) also played well.
Tech (2-5) hosts Greater Lawrence Thursday (5:30).
Fenwick 42, Austin Prep 35 (OT)
The Crusaders held Austin Prep scoreless in the overtime period to earn the victory.
Liz Gonzalez led the way with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Veronica Tache scored 10 points.
Fenwick (5-1) travels to Archbishop Williams Friday (6:30).
SWIMMING
Marblehead 96, Peabody 79
For Marblehead, Theo Chemel won the 200 freestyle (1:59.50) and the 500 (5:17.58), Cole Brooks won the 200 IM (2:17.98) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.87), Nate Pulido won the 50 freestyle (25.29), Morgan Taylor won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.58) and Jack Grady won the 100 backstroke (59.56).
Marblehead (2-0) travels to Danvers Wednesday (5).
Swampscott 101, English 68
The Bulldogs had two first-place finishers, with Hannah Trahant placing first in diving and Mary Lawlor winning the 100 backstroke (1:06.62). Caroline Zuffante finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:15.35) and the team of Trahant, Ryan Curley, Carlie Harris and Cole Story finished second in the 400 freestyle relay (5:32.35).
English (0-4) is back in the pool Thursday (7) against Salem.
Danvers 98, Classical 85
Winners on the night for the Rams were Jacob Lang in the 200 freestyle, Sydney Finnigan in the 500 freestyle, Max Gonzalez in the 100 backstroke and the team of Lang, Finnigan, Cristian Flores and Zach Westin in the 200 freestyle relay.
Classical swims against Beverly Thursday (4).
BOYS TRACK
St. John’s Prep 75, Malden Catholic 19
The Eagles got wins from Mike Fionda in the shot put (43-2), Tyee Ambrosh in the long jump (20-3), Max Gaffney in the high jump (5-8), Griffin Tache in the 600 (1:31.24), Matt Quinn in the 1000 (2:47.89), Noah Mooney in the one-mile (4:37.0) and the team of Tache, Jarrett Young, Grey Pykett and Geddes Donlon in the 400 relay.
St. John’s (4-0) will run at the Northeast Invitational Friday (4) at the Reggie Lewis Center.
