LYNN — A 19-year-old Lynn man has been arrested for allegedly carrying out an armed home invasion Wednesday afternoon.
Police said Jaden Morant allegedly tried to force his way into an Estes Street home and threatened a resident with a handgun shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Morant allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived and a subsequent investigation resulted in his arrest on a warrant Thursday. Police were told Morant attempted the break-in because he claimed the residents of the home had some of his property, said Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec.
“The people are known (to each other) and he was going there for something,” Kmiec said.
Morant was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and home invasion. During his arrest, the suspect allegedly tried to throw a handgun off of a balcony and onto the roof of another home. Officers saw the gun fall on the ground and seized it for evidence, Kmiec said.
Police believe the weapon is the same one used in the home invasion, Kmiec said.
