The Christmas season can be hard on everyone, and single-parent homes often face the most struggles.
Such is the case for D’Angelo and his younger brother, boys whose single mother works hard every day to keep the family stable. The holiday season puts added stress on D’Angelo’s mother, who simply wants her sons to have an exciting Christmas.
“The Christmas holiday season is so exciting when you have small children,” said the boys’ mother, Marcy. “I want to make it the best I can; the looks on their faces on Christmas Day are priceless.”
But with two active sons, Marcy has struggled to keep pace with the expenses that come with it. She’s asking for help to be able to provide her sons with a special Christmas experience.
“It’s been a struggle year-round with expenses for two very active boys,” Marcy said. “This would help take the burden off of me a bit.”
D’Angelo and his brother are asking for Pokemon, puzzles and LEGOs this Christmas. If they’re really lucky, they say, they’d like some musical instruments to experiment with.
The Item and the Salvation Army have been committed to providing special Christmas experiences for families like this for years now, and with the help of generous donations from readers all over the area they will be able to continue doing so.
Now in its 53rd year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, PO Box 5, Lynn, MA 01903.
