LYNN — Marven Hyppolite, who lost to Ward 5 Councilor Dianna Chakoutis in last week’s election, plans to file for a recount.
Hyppolite said he took out papers this week and plans to return them by the deadline on Friday. He lost to Chakoutis by 54 votes.
City Clerk Janet Rowe said the recount would likely be held next week. There would be no cost to the city because no additional staff would be required, and she doesn’t expect the result to change, she said.
The last time there was a recount was in September 2013 following a Ward 5 primary between Chakoutis, Jake Keo and Seth Albaum, which decided which two candidates would advance to the general election.
Albaum requested the recount after receiving five fewer votes than Keo and failing to advance to the election, which Chakoutis ultimately won.
