The MIAA released its volleyball state tournament pairings Tuesday morning and plenty of local teams will push for postseason runs in their respective divisions.
In Division 1 North, Marblehead and Peabody are in the hunt. The Magicians wrapped up the regular season at 12-7 and drew the No. 8 seed. They’ll host No. 9 Central Catholic Friday (6) in the first round. Peabody qualified for the postseason with Monday’s win at Medford. The Tanners, 10-10, are the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 5 Woburn Friday (6).
The Division 2 North sectional has three local teams. Lynnfield concluded its season at 20-0, without dropping a single set, and drew the top seed. The Pioneers have a bye in the preliminary round and will host the winner of No. 17 Brighton/No. 16 Bedford Saturday (6). Classical, which finished the regular season at a program-best 18-2, also earned a bye in the preliminary round. The No. 4 Rams will host No. 13 Boston English Saturday (4:30). Bishop Fenwick has the No. 10 seed after a 13-5 regular season. The Crusaders, also with a bye in the preliminary round, will travel to No. 7 Charlestown Friday (5:30).
Also in Division 2 North is Northeastern Conference powerhouse Danvers. The Falcons, 20-0, drew the No. 3 seed and, after a bye in the preliminary round, will host No. 14 North Reading Friday (5).
Winthrop and Tech have qualified in Division 3 North. The No. 9 Vikings, 10-8, will visit No. 8 Lowell Catholic Thursday (6) in the first round. No. 10 Tech, 11-9, will visit No. 7 Ipswich Thursday (6).
In Division 1 Central/East, Revere drew the No. 6 seed at 13-7. Revere will visit No. 3 King Phillip in the quarterfinal next Monday (TBA).
