The Swampscott girls soccer team knocked Beverly off the undefeated ranks Friday with a 2-1 win.

Mackeznie Kearney scored both Swampscott goals with assists from Grace Hudson and Sydney Clarke. Goalie Lillian Gosselin made five saves.

“My girls came out and played with fire,” Swampscott coach Norman James said. “It was a huge win. We knew Beverly was undefeated and we knew the last time we played them, we let them get away with that victory. We tried not to make the mistakes we made. “Our midfield was key. They kept Beverly at bay. We pressured them high. We did a lot of things we talked about doing. Our defense played exceptionally well.”
