LYNN — The City Council has authorized the city to enter into a lease agreement with Gannon Municipal Golf Course’s manager to operate the course for five more years.
Golf Facilities Management Inc., which has operated the course for six years, had its $2.38 million bid approved by the Lynn Park Commission last week and received council approval on Tuesday night.
The company, owned by Chris Carter and Steve Murphy, will continue to operate the 190-acre golf course, restaurant and banquet facility, bar concession, function hall, pro shop and snack shop.
GFMI was the sole bidder in August, and under its lease agreement, will pay the city $480,000 for the first and second years, $460,000 in the third year, with a $480,000 fee for the four and fifth years.
The company has been the only bidder for management of the Great Woods Road golf course each time the city has solicited proposals, in 2013 and 2018.
