School Sports Roundup: St. Mary’s golf grabs another win

The St. Mary’s golf team continued its impressive run through the regular season Tuesday, earning a 154-140 win over Catholic Conference foe Arlington Catholic at Gannon Golf Club. 

Aidan Emmerich led the way in points for the Spartans with 32, while Luke Sargent was right behind with 29 points. Luke Smith added 25 points, while Rich Pagliuca put up 20 points. 

St. Mary’s (8-1) is back in action Wednesday (3) against another CCL opponent — rival Bishop Fenwick — at Gannon.

GOLF 

Swampscott 52, Peabody 20 

At Tedesco, Swampscott’s Lou Spellios shot a team-low 39. Other top performers for the Big Blue were Aidan Graciale (7 1/2- 1 1/2) Brendan Sheehan (7-2)  Aidan Tierney (9-0), Jesse McGinley (6-3), Drew Roddie (5 1/2-3 1/2) and Danny Dilisio (4 1/2-4 1/2). 

Swampscott (3-2) travels to Saugus next Wednesday (4). 

Peabody’s top performers were Brendan Mills, Chris Dararian and Tony Molle. 

Peabody (0-5) hopes to grab its first win Wednesday (4) when the Tanners host Somerville. 

BOYS SOCCER 

Classical 2, Malden 1

Classical’s Jenner Robles Sandoval scored both goals in the win at Manning Field. Alex Ixlaj dished both assists. 

The Rams (5-1) host Saugus Thursday (7). 

Saugus 3, Winthrop 2

The Sachems built a 2-0 lead at halftime and never looked back en route to the win at Anna Parker Playground. 

New Saugus coach Josh Hickey picked up his first win in the process. Vincent Coluccio, Marcel De Lima and Kyle McLaughlin scored one goal apiece. 

Saugus (1-2) visits Classical Thursday (7). 

Peabody 4, Swampscott 1

Kyle Joyce’s hat trick led the Tanners at Coley Lee Field. Brian Panzini scored one goal. 

Cairo Dalifour dished three assists and Tyler Surman logged one assist. 

Dom Cunha made eight saves. 

“We scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game and I don’t think they recovered,” McKeen said. “It was a good effort.” 

Also playing well for the Tanners were Bjorn Shurdha, Enco Gjorga and Ben Kemp. 

“Hopefully we’re headed in the right direction,” said McKeen. 

Peabody (2-2) travels to St. Mary’s Friday (3:30). 

Swampscott’s Christian Urbano scored on Fernando Barranco’s assist. 

The Big Blue host Danvers Thursday (4). 

KIPP 4, Salem Academy 3

Marco Escobar had a game to remember, scoring all four KIPP goals at Manning Field. Kevin Rodriguez and Alejandro Campos each logged an assist. 

Panthers goalie James Paz made key saves down the stretch. 

Kipp hosts Prospect Hill Academy next Tuesday (7:15). 

GIRLS SOCCER

Classical 1, Malden 1

Molly Mannion scored Classical’s goal on Mary Collins’ assist. 

“From the opening whistle it was back and forth,” Rams coach Mike Schena said. “Every one of my players on the field gave 100 percent.” 

Classical hosts Saugus Saturday (3:30). 

Salem 3, English 0

Playing well for English were goalie Elysse Newson, Julianna Perry and Ravyn Rapley. The Bulldogs (1-3-1) host Winthrop Thursday (5:15).  

Saugus 2, Winthrop 0

Jess Carter and Jeimmy Monroy Rodrigues each scored one goal for the Sachems, while goalkeeper Alex Inferrera recorded four saves in the shutout victory.

Saugus (4-1) plays on the road at Classical Saturday (3:30).

Danvers 8, Gloucester 0 

Abby Cash (two goals), Riley DiGilio, Arianna Bezanson, Becca Rocker, Colby Thomson, Reese Pszenny and Mikayla Shaffaval. 

Falcons goalies Emma Maynard, Kiley MacCormack and Holly DeAngelis split time in net. 

Danvers (3-1) hosts Swampscott Thursday (6:30). 

“That’ll be a huge game,” Danvers coach Jim Hinchion said. “Swampscott has been very good the past few years. They’ll be very tough. We’ll have to be ready.”‘

Beverly 3, Marblehead 0

Carter Murray, Anna Rigby and Emma Robinson played well for the Magicians. 

Marblehead (1-4) travels to Peabody Thursday (6:30). 

VOLLEYBALL

Austin Prep 3, St. Mary’s 0

The Spartans fall to 2-4 on the season. They visit Spellman Thursday (7). 

Winthrop 3, English 0

Set scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-16. 

English (2-2) hosts Danvers Thursday (5:30). 

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

St. Mary’s 15, Matignon 50

Fenwick’s top finishers were Wyatt Burr (17:51), Kevin Wythe (18:36) and Matthew Cinelli (18:45). 

St. Mary’s top finishers were Taban Manyok (16:28), Kyle Kwiatek (18:24), Anthony D’Itria (19) and Sean Osbahr (19:34).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY 

Fenwick 15, St. Mary’s 50

St. Mary’s 15, Fenwick 50 

Fenwick’s top finishers were  Ava Mahoney (19:35), Catherine Corter (22:12) and Grace Kubat  (22:16). 

St. Mary’s top finishers were Anna Fringuelli (25:27), Abby Lynch (25:33), Erin Lewis (25:50) Luna Robichaud, (26:18) and Lily Newhall (26:40). 

JV Girls Soccer

Classical 1, Malden 1

Eliza Correnti scored Classical’s lone goal. Sabrina Ossambo also played well.
