LYNN — A 55-year-old man was rescued from the water Wednesday afternoon after he fell through broken boards at the Lynn Fishing Pier.
The man fell right through the pier’s dilapidated boards beside the General Edwards Bridge and was too weak to get himself back up, said Lynn Fire Chief Stephen Archer. Two witnesses, a 22-year-old male and a 21-year-old female, jumped into the water and assisted him with getting back onto the pier, said Archer.
First responders got the call at 3:24 p.m., Archer said. The man was conscious and alert during his ambulance transport to Massachusetts General Hospital hospital, he added.
“He was conscious the whole time,” said Archer. “He appeared to be just shook up, cold and wet.”
