PEABODY — Looking for a distraction from the weekend heat?
The city’s annual summer concert and fireworks display is set for Sunday at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature Eleventh Hour. The five-person North Shore rock band has Sandra Mariah Wright on vocals, Mark Eugenio, guitar, Joseph Griffith, guitar and keys, Bryan Sheehan, bass, and George Drillis, drums.
They play an eclectic mix of music including Top 40, classic rock, alternative and hard rock from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin. Expect tunes by Bruno Mars, Adele and Elle King. But they also mix a little bit of country with covers of Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert.
“The Annual Summer Concert & Fireworks Spectacular has quickly become a cherished tradition in Peabody,” said Mayor Edward Bettencourt Jr., in a statement. “We look forward to an evening of great music Sunday followed by a breathtaking fireworks display that will light up the sky over the football field.”
In addition to stadium bleacher seating, family picnic areas will be designated for concert and fireworks viewing.
Food vendors and a beer garden featuring the Essex County Brewing Co. will be on site. Food or beverages are not allowed on the stadium turf field. Free parking is available.
Transportation to the high school for seniors by shuttle bus from the Peter A. Torigian Senior Center at 75R Central St. will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until 7:15 p.m. Shuttles will begin return trips to the senior center following the fireworks display.
