SWAMPSCOTT — Three men were arrested early Sunday morning after officers found them sleeping in a car with a trunk full of firearms.
Swampscott police officers came across a car stopped at a traffic light for several cycles at 5:57 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Thomas Stephens. Officers approached the car and found three men asleep, including the operator at the wheel, and had to knock on the front window for 20 seconds before they woke up.
The operator and two passengers were reported as under the influence of alcohol and were deemed unable to drive, said Stephens. Given the car had to be towed, officers made a routine inventory search, to make sure all the operator’s valuables would be accounted for, and found several firearms in the hatchback, he said.
There was an assault rifle, a fully loaded (30 rounds) high capacity magazine, and a stolen pistol, which was hidden in a child’s Elmo satchel, said Stephens.
Theritchnide Roc, 27, of Beverly, was arrested and charged with a second offense of operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, two counts of possession of firearm without an FID card, two counts of unlawful improper storage of firearm, receiving stolen property of a firearm, and two counts of possession of firearm large capacity weapon or feeding device.
