Complaints
The beach supervisor reported a 5-foot shark had been seen off the shoreline at 10:41 a.m. Sunday on Ocean Avenue. The harbormaster was notified. A paddleboarder claimed to have seen a possible shark 60 yards offshore. The shark allegedly left to head toward Swampscott. The town of Swampscott was notified and alerted its municipal lifeguards. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified and said there had been a basking shark in the area recently. The harbormaster reported it was not a credible or confirmed sighting, but kept a second boat in the area to monitor the beach.
A caller reported people fishing for squid on the docks had been going into his boat at 5:43 p.m. Sunday at Marblehead Harbor. The caller said his boat was disabled on the finger float off Commercial Street and he was noticing squid ink on the stern.
A caller reported people were throwing water balloons off the balcony at 8:01 p.m. Sunday on Atlantic Avenue.
