Saugus man suffers life-threatening injuries in crash

SAUGUS A 37-year-old Saugus man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car Friday night.

At about 9:50 p.m. on Friday, Saugus police responded to Hamilton Street, near area Ella Street, for a car crash involving a pedestrian, according to Interim Chief Ronald Giorgetti. They located the man, who they did not identify, and he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Giorgetti reported the driver, a 60-year-old man from Melrose, remained on the scene and is cooperating with police. The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section also responded to the scene.

The crash investigation is being led by Saugus police and is still ongoing.
