Motorcycle driver killed in Lynn crash identified

LYNN — The man killed after his motorcycle collided with a car on Eastern Avenue on Monday night has been identified by authorities as Javon Walczak, 24, of Lynn.

Walczak was driving his motorcycle shortly after 7 p.m. when he collided with a car that was crossing Eastern Avenue in the area of Victory Road and Waitt Avenue. He was taken to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the car, a 72-year-old Lynn man. He wasn’t injured in the crash, Monahan said.

Lynn Fire Capt. Joseph Zukas said two off-duty firefighters — Lynn Fire Lt. Paul Whitten and a Swampscott firefighter — performed CPR on Walczak in the street until Engine 10 from the Broadway fire station arrived and crews took over.

The crash is under investigation by Lynn Police and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
