Classical softball lands three players on NEC all-conference team

Classical’s Kayla Morrill, Rebecca Walker and Brooke Warren earned all-conference selections as the Northeastern Conference released its softball all-stars for the 2019 season.

Morrill and Walker, both seasoned veterans, helped anchor Classical’s infield this spring. Warren, a left-handed pitcher, took care of business in the circle. Each of the three played a crucial role in helping lead the Rams to another Division 1 North state tournament appearance.

Classical hosts Reading in a first-round tilt Saturday (1).

The rest of the NEC North all-conference team includes English’s Julia Chen; Revere’s Alexis Iacoviello; Malden’s Sarah Whitehouse; Medford’s Brenna Forbes and Carmen DiOrio, Everett’s Kaylee Nearen; Salem’s Christina Napierkowski; Somerville’s Noralee Hawkins.

Forbes was named MVP of the North, Medford’s Jack Dempsey was named Coach of the Year and Revere won the Sportsmanship Award.

The South all-conference team includes Swampscott’s Katie Watts; Saugus’ Caitlyn Wood; Peabody’s Tianna Dawe and Kristina Rossignoll; Marblehead’s Charlotte Plakans; Danvers’ Alexcea Glynos; Beverly’s Rona Scott and Julia Pitman; Gloucester’s Sydney McKay, Tracy Wood and Elizabeth Schuster.

McKay was named MVP of the South, Fishermen coach John Nicastro was named Coach of the Year and Saugus won the Sportsmanship Award.

The North all-stars are Classical’s Amanda Wilkins, Kiara Edmonds and Madison Dana; English’s Julianna Perry; Medford’s Mya Winslow, Emma McGlynn and MaKenzie Eisnor; Everett’s Madison Dufaes; Salem’s Rosa Vidal; Malden’s Lissette Curran.

The South all-stars are Swampscott’s Chloe Rakauskas; Saugus’ Emma Howard; Marblehead’s Mercedez Pelletier; Peabody’s MacKenzie Marmion and Makayla Rooney; Winthrop’s Bella Perrotti; Danvers’ Brooke Grassia and Kayla Robinson; Beverly’s Natalie Stillwell and Melanie Mason; Gloucester’s Jemima Grow, Madison Machado and Ella Marshall.
