SAUGUS — Saugus and state police are investigating a pedestrian crash on Main Street that left a woman with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning.
The woman, who was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, was struck by a car in front of J. Pace & Son, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police. When first responders arrived, she was lying on the ground receiving aid from an off-duty Cambridge firefighter, according to a statement from Saugus Police.
State Police Collision Reconstruction and Crime Scene units are assisting Saugus Police in investigating the crash. An accident reconstruction team worked into the afternoon on Thursday.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained on scene and made himself known to officers, according to Saugus Police. No charges or citations are pending at this time.
